Good design, I've come to believe, is really just an act of translation. Taking something unwieldy and returning it to the people it was meant for.

I first learned this in landscape architecture, translating a site's raw conditions, a slope, a flood zone, a vague brief, into something people could actually move through and live in.

Now I do the same for product design: the dense, ambiguous kind that too often ask too much of the humans depending on them. My work is the bridge between what's technically possible and what's genuinely usable.

Outside of that, I'm drawn to discussions of, currently: the Anthropic IPO & the sf bay housing market; emerging AI & how it’s quietly reshaping how we live; traveling; human psychology; urban planning.
